Java is the default programming language of the internet. And, because of its pervasiveness, Java is often the target of attackers. If your version of Java is old, then you may be at risk. Simply visiting the wrong website could initiate an attack on your Java install. If successful, attackers can take control of your device. To protect yourself, be sure to configure Java for automatic updates. I know it’s dull, but it is really worth checking…

The bad guys will check which version of Java you are running. You should too.

For instructions on how to find Java on your machine, head to:

https://www.java.com/en/download/help/version_manual.xml.

Once you have the Java console open, hit Update to check the Auto-update setting.
